Ant-Man has already had an entire movie to fight evil on his own, but in Ant-Man and The Wasp, he's getting a partner. And one who appears to be more than capable of carrying her own weight. In this newly released featurette, we find out more about the comic book history of The Wasp, and where she's headed in the future, which may just be flying smack dab into Avengers 4.

Since we didn't see Ant-Man, aka Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), or The Wasp, aka Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), in Infinity War, many folks have been wondering what role, if any, the duo will play in battling Thanos and (hopefully) saving half the world's population. Well, in the featurette below, Kevin Feige puts that wondering to bed.

After getting into the history of The Wasp as an original Avenger in the comic books, Feige goes on to say “Ant-Man and the Wasp also connects directly to Avengers 4. These characters are going to be very important going forward.”

Now that The Wasp is finally joining the MCU, all of the original Avengers are available for the inevitable Thanos throwdown coming May 3, 2019. But we still have all the events of Ant-Man and The Wasp (and Captain Marvel) to look forward to first.

At the end of the first Ant-Man, we got a bite-sized look at a newly redesigned suit for The Wasp. Janet Van Dyne (who will be played by Michelle Pfeiffer) was the original Wasp, but now Hope is taking up the mantle from her mother and battling evil alongside Ant-Man.

In addition to learning more about The Wasp's history, this featurette also shows her and Ant-Man heading into the Quantum Realm to search for Hope's missing mother. We already knew the quantum realm would play a role in the film, but now we have confirmation that our superhero duo will travel there as a mission to bring Janet home.

So yeah, this has been a pretty informative featurette, eh?

Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp buzzes into theaters July 6.
