Marvel Studios' 20th film, Ant-Man and the Wasp, just hit theaters last weekend, but they apparently don't have time to stop and celebrate the big debut, because studio head Kevin Feige says Avengers 4 is officially in edit.

The cliffhanger ending to Avengers: Infinity War understandably left fans both heartbroken and even more excited for the upcoming to-be-named Avengers 4 film, which hopefully brings some sort of resolution to the chaos Thanos caused. And we've got good news! At the press junket for Ant-Man and the Wasp, Birth. Movies. Death. asked Feige about the status of Avengers 4, being directed by the Russo Brothers, the team behind Avengers 3.

"We’re just starting the edit," said Feige. "The [Russo] brothers have worked on their cut, and we’ve been together in the editing room for a couple weeks now, so it’s very early days. But it’s much earlier than usual, right? Usually we’re still filming. Captain Marvel comes out in March, while this one comes out in May and we’re already starting. It’s fun to get a jump, it’s good having already shot the majority of the movie. So we’re just getting into our traditional editorial process now."

Avengers 4 was shot in tandem with Avengers: Infinity War, so it makes sense that they'd be a little further along in the editing process. To give you an idea, at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, Joe Russo said they were already in edit on and had a long cut of Avengers: Infinity War, but still had scenes to shoot. With re-shoots for Avengers 4 happening this summer, it seems like the film is on about the same timeline.

But as you can probably assume from your own procrastination abilities, the time goes by quickly, and no matter how much time you have, Feige says they will use it all.

"You always fill the time you have," he noted. "Either you have a lot of time and it really motivates you to think things through, or you have no time, and it really motivates you to think things through!"

No matter how much time they have to edit the film, expectations will be high for the follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War, which Thor himself Chris Hemsworth says is even more shocking.

Avengers 4 is set to hit theaters May 3, 2019.
