Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Andromeda star Kevin Sorbo is heading back to TV to star (yes!) in a new NBC series, Miracle Man.
Deadline reports Sorbo will executive-produce the series along with his Hercules partners in crime, Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert. It'll be penned (and executive-produced) by The Great Debaters scribe Robert Eisele.
Miracle Man centers on Jason Greene, a decorated Army Ranger almost killed while serving in Afghanistan. Discharged from the army and haunted by the experience, he returns home to a wife who has left him and an adult son he hardly knows. Struggling to piece his life together, Jason discovers he has a power – the ability to make small miracles happen that can change people’s lives. A tough and skeptical Jason begins a quest to find answers to the Big Whopping Question: WHY.
The supernatural drama series will mark Sorbo’s return to the small screen in a major role. The last time we saw the fan favorite topline a big television series was in Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda, which ran for five seasons back in 2000-20005. Doesn’t mean the Hercules actor hasn’t been busy since the sci-fi show ended; on the contrary (just look at his IMDb page)! But it’ll be great to see him back in a big series, on a major network.
As for Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, those guys are a couple of busy bees. They are currently executive-producing Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead while the dynamic duo will also be producing a reboot of Xena: Warrior Princess, currently in development at NBC.
