The weather sucks. The news is exhausting. Is it any wonder that we soothe ourselves with some video games when things get rough out there? This week we have a new gameplay trailer for the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III, a new chapter of DLC for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, a new video for Far Cry New Dawn and more!

Sadly, we also have news about a delay in a beloved video game property. Hey, it can’t all be roses and unicorns. Here is all the Gamegrrl news for the week ending January 26, 2019.

A new gameplay overview trailer has been released for the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III and we’re learning all about the attacks that Sora has at his disposal, as well as the multiple keyblades you can use to defeat the darkness. Will you take down Master Xehanort this time around? You’ll have some pretty great Disney and Pixar allies like the gangs from Toy Story, Tangled, and Frozen to help! Even cooler? In Kingdom Hearts III, you can call upon the power fo the parks with Attractions!

This week we got a new DLC chapter for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, one of our favorite games of last year. The chapter is called The Nightmare, and in it, Lara deals with something called the “white breath” that takes her down the path of fear alone.

In The Nightmare, you’ll get to check out a new challenge tomb called Howl of the Monkey Gods, a new outfit called Scales of Q, a new weapon called Grip of Fear, which looks like a lot of sticks tied together with rope, and it’s available right now.

Here is the info for you: "Explore Croft Manor in a harrowing trial unlike anything she has faced before. In order to obtain a powerful weapon, Lara must conquer, in either single-player or co-op, the latest challenge tomb, Howl of the Monkey Gods.” The Nightmare is available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC/Steam.

Life is Strange 2 has a new episode out. It isn’t always easy to have powers, especially when you’re a little kid. In Chapter 2 of Life is Strange 2 which is out right now, Daniel is having a little trouble keeping his secret.

Here is the info: “The two brothers continue their journey into the winter months & struggle against the cold. As Daniel gradually falls ill, Sean decides they must make their way to their distant grandparent’s house to recover. During their stay, they encounter next-door neighbour Chris, a young boy who believes he is a super-hero by the name of Captain Spirit. Sean insists on Daniel following a set of rules around his power. Will Daniel keep his power concealed or break the rules in a time of need?”

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part hits theaters on February 8, and later that month on the 26, we’re getting The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame for Xbox One and PS4. It will be in stores for the Nintendo Switch on March 26. This week we got a teaser trailer for the game. Though we’re not seeing a lot here, we’re at least getting a look at some of the characters we’ll see including Emmet, Lucy and some aliens that look like pianos on octopus legs. Oh, and Batman shows up.  Check it out above.

We also have a new story trailer for Far Cry New Dawn from Ubisoft. It’s pretty dark, you guys. Here is the info for you: “Sh*t just got real. Face off against the ruthless highwaymen and their leaders the Twins as you fight to survive in a dangerous post-apocalyptic frontier. Form unexpected alliances, build a deadly arsenal of makeshift weapons and gear using the remnants of the old world to survive against all new threats. Far Cry New Dawn will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 15th, 2019.

This week we also got a new launch trailer for Resident Evil 2, which is getting great reviews. This is, of course, the remake of the 1998 classic video game using Capcom’s RE ENGINE. The game is out right now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Maybe don’t play this one alone in the dark.

Finally, we sadly learned this week that Metroid Prime 4 is going to be delayed. In a video message from Shinya Takahashi, Senior Managing Executive Officer, who is responsible for development at Nintendo, we learned that they are not satisfied with the quality of the game development so far. Because of that, Nintendo has decided to reexamine the development structure of the game and change it. They will now be working with Retro Studios in the U.S. to develop the game and restart everything from the beginning. Frustrating, yes, but it’s worth the wait to see our beloved Samus in a game that we’re all happy about.

So, which video game news are you most excited about? Are you freaking out about the delay in Metroid Prime 4? Let us know in the comments.
