When I saw the first trailer for IFC Films' Personal Shopper a few months ago, my first thought was "What did I just watch?" The second trailer doesn't make things any clearer (since I haven't seen the movie), but I admit to being mightily intrigued by the film. Is it really a ghost story? A thriller? A bit of both? Oh, and it looks like we'll also get a murder mystery thrown in for good measure.

Directed by Olivier Assayas (Clouds of Sils Maria), Personal Shopper stars Kristen Stewart as, what else? A personal shopper named Maureen Cartwright whose twin brother died in his Paris home. The young woman, who happens to be a bit of a "spiritual medium," then tries to make contact with the ghost of her dead sibling.

Personal Shopper, which also stars Anders Danielsen Lie, Lars Eidinger, Nora von Waldst├Ątten, Pamela Betsy Cooper and Benjamin Biolay, premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, where it created a bit of a stir and landed Assayas the Best Director award (which he shared with Cristian Mungiu for Graduation). The film opens on March 10.
