Square Enix has released the first teaser trailer for the video game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and the timing could not be more perfect, as the new movie arrives Friday. Just 20 seconds long, the teaser shows Lara running through the jungle, scaling a cliff, and standing at the top of an ancient temple as a full solar eclipse takes place.

According to the official website, the game will be released September 14, but the news doesn't stop there. There's also a countdown clock for April 27 when the full trailer will presumably drop, as well as the assurance that a "puzzle" arrives Monday at 9 a.m. PT. What this means is anyone's guess at this point, but perhaps a few lucky fans could win free copies of the game if they are able to solve said puzzle.

Watch the teaser below...

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the first video game in the franchise since 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider, which was critically acclaimed and a massive hit. It served as a sequel to 2013's Tomb Raider and found Lara suffering from Yamatai-based PTSD and searching for the legendary city of Kitezh.

The Tomb Raider film reboot starring Alicia Vikander hits theaters tomorrow. That film is largely inspired by the reimagined version of the video game series from the past few years. Early reviews have been mixed, praising Vikander's performance in the role but voicing a disappointment in the plot.
