Most of the cast is already locked for Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four, but the reboot just added one more semi-major role — and he could also be a future villain.

Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk, O Brother, Where Art Thou?) is in final negotiations to join the cast as Harvey Elder, an eccentric and socially awkward scientist. As fans of the comics know, Elder also becomes the Mole Man, a comic villain who eventually goes on to lead a group of subterranean monsters called the Moloids.

Assuming Nelson signs on, he’ll join a cast that includes Miles Teller (Reed Richards), Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm), Kate Mara (Sue Storm), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm) and Toby Kebbell (Doctor Doom).

Though the studio wouldn’t comment on how Elder will fit into the film, The Hollywood Reporter cites sources saying his appearance will establish the character and possibly set up future appearances to develop Mole Man into a Big bad. The character was first introduced in The Fantastic Four #1, circa 1961.

Would you like to see Mole Man pop up in a Fantastic sequel?
