Just 24 hours after unveiling a new one-sheet paying homage to The Goonies, the Duffer Brothers’ critically acclaimed Netflix series Stranger Things is now tackling a 1977 Steven Spielberg sci-fi masterpiece with its latest throwback poster.

The Stranger Things Season 2 poster shows formerly-abducted Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) opening the door on an ominous red sky (and a new monster) in Hawkins, Indiana …

... Which looks pretty darn similar to what happened in that iconic Close Encounters of the Third Kind scene and poster where young Barry Guiler (Cary Guffey) opens that door and gets abducted by aliens. See Exhibit A:

Sony Pictures recently unveiled that new poster for Close Encounters’ 40th anniversary digitally remastered 4K edition which had a limited one-week run in theaters on Sept. 1. However if you missed out on seeing the anniversary edition in cinemas, it's now available on home release.

Stranger Things' latest poster tribute follows those for Stand By Me, The Running Man, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien, Firestarter, Evil Dead and Jaws.

Stranger Things returns to the Upside Down for a second season on Oct. 27.
