We haven’t heard much of anything ever since it was announced back in 2014 that Lee Pace (Halt and Catch Fire, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Hobbit trilogy) had been cast in an alien invasion movie titled Revolt, which was then going by Prisoner of War. But today we have a cool trailer to share.

In Revolt, Pace plays an American soldier in a war-ravaged African country who joins forces with a French foreign aid worker, played by Skyfall’s Berenice Marlohe, “amid humankind’s last stand against a cataclysmic alien invasion.” Their partnership will be tested when they seek refuge from the alien threat.

While there doesn’t appear to be an official U.S. release date for the movie, directed by Joe Miale (dude mostly directed short films, including Assassin's Creed: Checkmate and Half-Life: Raise the Bar) from a screenplay co-written with Rowan Athale (Wasteland), just yet — other than the vague “2017” — it seems that it'll hit movie theaters in Japan on July 1. In case some of you find yourselves in that neck of the woods on that date.

DutchFilmWorks, which has released the following trailer, also lists July 20 for a TVOD premiere and Dec. 12 for a Blu-ray release, but those dates could be for the European market. Sure, the trailer doesn’t boast A-list visual effects or big-name actors (besides Pace, whom I’ve been a fan of ever since his Pushing Daisies days), but it looks like a fun alien invasion flick. Take a look and let us know what you think!
