Legends of Tomorrow boss reveals what Green Lantern WON'T appear on the show

A couple of months ago it was announced that Patrick J. Adams would appear on an episode of Legends of Tomorrow. The identity of his character was never revealed, and is still unknown. This gave way to some plausible fan theories as to who Adams could play, one of the biggest possibilities being Green Lantern -- not Hal Jordan or Guy Gardner -- but Alan Scott.

Legends of Tomorrow producer Marc Guggenheim has made an official statement regarding the Scott theory. In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Guggenheim finally cleared the air.

"I'll tell you right now, because I never want anyone to be disappointed, he's not Alan Scott," Guggenheim confirmed.

Legends could be staying away from Scott and the Green Lantern lore because of DC's burgeoning film universe. Guggenheim continued, "I love Alan Scott. I've written Alan Scott in the comics. Alan Scott is also attached to the Green Lantern franchise, which DC obviously has feature plans for. In the poll of 'who it's going to be,' you can cross off Alan Scott."

Alan Scott is the original Green Lantern, and a founding member of the Justice Society of America. It would have been great to tie him in with the Legends team, but obviously DC has bigger plans. Unfortunately, this still leaves a major question unanswered: Who will Patrick J. Adams play?

Leave your theories below!

Legends of Tomorrow's season finale airs tonight at 8 p.m. on The CW.
