The CW’s time-traveling superhero series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be featuring a young version of George Lucas when the show returns for its midseason premiere. According to the good folks at Entertainment Weekly, Matt Angel (Grimm, Sweet/Vicious) has been cast in the role of the legendary director in the upcoming episode titled “Raiders of the Lost Art.”

Since Rip Hunter (Arthur Darville) has now been found working as a director in 1967 Los Angeles, the crew of the Waverider will cross paths with the future filmmaker. But there’s a bit of a problem. The latest time aberration will spell trouble for The Atom (Brandon Routh) and Citizen Steel (Nick Zano) as George Lucas decides to *GASP* leave film school. Which will have major repercussions for our two heroes. Uh-oh.

“Because of circumstances, the time aberration in episode 209 is George Lucas quits film school,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim tells EW. “As a result, he never makes Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark. As a result, Ray, who became an engineer because of Star Wars, and Nate, who became a historian because of Raiders, slowly start to lose their brilliance, because those things that inspired them to become who they are didn’t exist.”

Since it’s Legends of Tomorrow we’re talking about, be sure to expect plenty of Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark in-jokes and references (heck, the title itself is one big giant Raiders reference). One thing for sure, this episode is bound to be bittersweet for Star Wars fans and geeks everywhere because of Carrie Fisher’s recent passing. R.I.P.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns on a new night, Tuesday Jan. 24, following the midseason premiere of The Flash.
