One of the newest additions to DC's TV universe has been cast.
According to The Wrap, actor Falk Hentschel has been cast as Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, on DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Hentschel's previous credits include the TV series Reckless as well as movies like Transcendence, White House Down and Knight and Day. He has also dipped his toes into the Marvel Universe, playing HYDRA agent Marcus Scarlotti on an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Although the character has been retconned rather confusingly throughout the years in the comics, Hall was the original Hawkman, a reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince who harnessed the power of the mysterious "ninth metal" and used it to build large wings with which he could fly. Hawkman was a charter member of the Justice Society of America and later joined the Justice League as well, often working with his partner Hawkgirl, who will be played by Ciara Renee.
Hentschel joins a cast that also includes Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave), Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter), Caity Lotz (White Canary), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom) and Victor Garber (Martin Stein/half of Firestorm).
As is becoming standard practice for the DC shows, Hentschel will make his debut as Hawkman on crossover episodes of Arrow and The Flash before turning up on Legends of Tomorrow, which will premiere in mid-season 2016.
