We don’t know exactly who will be on the Waverider when Legends of Tomorrow returns for its third season this fall, but there will be at least one new hero joining the team: Zari Adrianna Tomaz.

Variety reports Tala Ashe (American Odyssey) has joined the series as Zari Adrianna Tomaz, “a Muslim-American woman from the year 2030 who lives in a world of contradictions — technology has brought about incredible change in her future, but too bad human nature hasn’t kept pace.” This future has pushed Zari to become a “grey hat hacktivist,” though she does come to realize she has “secret, latent powers derived from an ancient, mystical source.”

So it stands to reason she’ll be filling the Felicity-esque role on the team this year, to get the series more into the Arrow-esque formula, but with the added bonus that she’s also a superhero? Which could definitely work, if handled well. She’ll also bring a bit of diversity to the TV superhero landscape, which is never a bad thing.

In the comics, the character hails from the country of Kahndaq and fights against the corrupt government led by DC baddie Black Adam. It’s doubtful we’ll get much Black Adam on the small screen, but aside from that, the character sounds relatively close-ish to the spirit of her comic counterpart. Oh, and she also goes by the hero’s name Isis, though we doubt they’ll use that too much considering the current political climate. Just sayin’.

What do you think of the new addition? Who do you want to see back on the Waverider?
