Season 2 of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is wrapping up this week, and to whet our appetite for the finale, The CW has released an extended trailer and video featurette for the episode titled “Aruba.”

In the second season finale, the Legends have to find Rip (who's been miniaturized along with the Waverider), travel back in time to World War I in order to stop their other selves from making the same mistakes that allowed the Legion of Doom to get their hands on the Spear of Destiny, and stop Reverse-Flash from creating Doomworld.

Since this is something they were told never EVER to do (i.e. traveling back in time where they participated in events), it’s going to be interesting to see what happens when the two sets of Legends come face to face. In the immortal words of Mick Rory: "Never stole anything from myself before ... could be interesting.” Here’s what executive Producer Phil Klemmer said in the video featurette:

“Doomworld, it's set. It's now written in indelible ink. There's no way of getting the Spear and changing it. And that's when our team resolves to do the one thing that we've been told not to do since the very first episode. You can't go back and participate in events that you participated in the first time. Because when you do, you create a time paradox — you know, black hole, end of the world, doom and gloom kind of stuff. Now we realize, like, taking a look around Doomworld, it's like, 'How could it get any worse than this? Let's go back to World War I and let's try to help our former selves get it right this time.'”

As the Legends are about to take off for their next destination, a massive timequake rocks the ship. In order to try and fix what has happened, they are forced to break the one cardinal rule of time travel. But if they are able to destroy the spear, they will face the ultimate consequence.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 finale airs on Tuesday, April 4, at 8 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.
