Never let it be said that LEGO doesn't listen to its loyal customer base, with the Danish company welcoming fresh ideas from its global fans through the LEGO Ideas program.
LEGO Ideas is a website run by Chaordix and The LEGO Group that lets brick-builders send in ideas for future LEGO products to be produced into possible playsets available on the retail market, with the original designer scoring 1% of the total royalties. Submissions receiving 10,000 votes from LEGO community supporters are given the opportunity of being actually manufactured as an official LEGO product.
The latest project to get the corporate thumbs-up is the sleek light cycle from Joseph Kosinski's Tron: Legacy. After reaching the required plateau of votes, LEGO approved it for a brand-new product to be engineered and churned out for sale next year. The announcement was made yesterday via the video above, and BrickBros UK and their Tron Light Cycle were the winners out of 11 eligible entries that attained the necessary support level.
