LEGO’s new Avengers: Infinity War playsets are toying with our movie expectations (gallery)

Let the speculation begin: LEGO has just officially revealed a trove of images from its soon-to-debut collection of Avengers: Infinity War-inspired Super Heroes building sets. And if you’ve been pining for some fresh bread crumbs to whet your imagination for all that Marvel may (or may not) have in store when Infinity War hits theaters this May, then look out, because LEGO’s just handed over an entire, blocky basketful.

We already knew that six all-new Infinity War playsets were coming, but with these new, detailed LEGO shots (which you can browse in the gallery at the bottom of this page) come new questions. What’s that sword Thanos is holding? Is there a movie-related reason LEGO is sticking with his bare-armed outfit? For that matter, where’s the Infinity Gauntlet? And is that Groot holding the Power Stone? Surely not… last we knew, that was supposed to be in the possession of the Nova Corps.

As loose as the connections between the comics and the MCU are, it’s probably safe to assume that LEGO is having a bit of fun with all the playful possibilities. Then again, we won’t know until the movie lands whether the toys may just be trying to tell us something.

As you can see below, the new sets are going all in on the lavishly detailed mini-figs (check out Black Panther’s sculpted LEGO abs!), but there’s some awesome kit to be spied, too. Have a gander at some of the official close-ups for the previously-revealed Sanctum Santorium of Doctor Strange, or the Wall of Wakanda in the Corvus Glaive Thresher Attack set.

If collecting every last one of these is your bag, start saving your dinero and hop to it: Avengers: Infinity War is just around the corner. We’re only two months and counting from the movie’s May 4, 2018 release. In the meantime, check out the gallery below — and see if you spot any possible Easter eggs.
