In an update to the news that Star Wars: Episode IX production has brought on Jack Thorne to write a new draft of the last film of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, it was stated that the most current draft was written by the film's director, Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World), and his writing partner Derek Connolly, based on a treatment from Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson.
Johnson took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to make sure it was understood that he was not involved the writing of any treatment for the follow-up to his upcoming film.
Before media and fans start running wild with attaching credit to anything involving Episode IX, Johnson wanted to clarify to avoid any false claim of his involvement with the script. Sometimes these things take on a life of their own, so rather than be inundated with questions regarding IX, Johnson nipped that in the bud.
As a reminder, Johnson wrote the script and is directing The Last Jedi. Luckily, Episode IX is still off the radar, with everyone "staying on target" with The Last Jedi. Patience, young Padawans.
