Game of Thrones is a complex series with more characters than George R.R. Martin can shake a scythe at. So who do you turn to to narrate an overview of the first five seasons? You turn to ... Samuel L. Jackson?
So what does Jackson have to do with Game of Thrones—an actor who has never once appeared on the HBO show?
The key is in the title: “Game of Thrones Beginner’s Guide: Uncensored.” Jackson is known in the media as someone associated with a particular curse word, based on his characters’ propensity toward blue language. Game of Thrones is quite a violent show, even if cursing is second fiddle to sudden, shocking death.
Also, having him narrate anything is hilarious.
As a persnickety Game of Thrones fan, I see how the writers could have added more details to this seven-and-a-half-minute overview. I don’t see how any Thrones newbies could make much sense of all but the most basic details. But as a hardcore fan, it’s fun to see what the writers of this video have decided is important.
The video is not safe for work. Unless you work at HBO.
