Oats Studios, the film studio created by District 9 director Neill Blomkamp, has been releasing short films on YouTube as a springboard for potential feature-length films. The first film, Raaka, dropped in June. The next short, Lima, currently has no release date. But it does have a trailer, which we have for you, below.

Lima has the same near-future dystopian feel as Raaka, but unlike Raaka, there are no aliens enslaving humanity. Here we meet an unnamed fighter who is tasked with being “the tip of the spear,” which supposes he will be at the fore of a nasty battle. This man is shorn and mostly silent. If he has an emotional state, we’d say it’s “grimly determined.”

We also don’t know whom he will be fighting, although it looks as if humans will be on the wrong end of the gun. But we do know he’s dressed to kill. (Check out his Master Chief-looking outfit and tell us you don’t hear the Halo theme when you first see it.)

Oats Studios describes Lima as a film “exploring the ideas of multinational corporations, secret government programs, and failed scientific experiments.” Perhaps our protagonist will be tasked with taking down the failed experiment.

Or perhaps he is the failed experiment.

Lima will be the last installation in Oats’ first "volume."
