Late last year, Warner Bros. announced a Little Shop of Horrors remake was in the works, with the Arrowverse's Greg Berlanti directing the movie from a script penned by Matthew Robinson (Black Box, Monster Trucks). Today we have news on who could topline the film.
This new Little Shop of Horrors remake will be based on director Frank Oz’s 1986 movie/musical starring Rick Moranis in the role of Seymour Krelborn, a down-on-his-luck, nerdy young florist raising a plant with a craving for human flesh and blood. The more Seymour kills for the giant, singing plant, the more his fame and popularity rise. Ellen Greene starred as Audrey, Seymour’s co-worker, with whom he is desperately in love. Awww.
According to That Hashtag Show, Warner Bros. is currently circling Josh Gad — who is fresh off his performance as LeFou on Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast — as Seymour, and Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) as Audrey. None of the actors have signed on the dotted line yet, but are said to be interested in the roles. Gad and Wilson certainly have the comedic and singing chops needed to play Seymour and Audrey, but I'm crossing my fingers that if they both sign on, they'll also have the chemistry to go with it.
The movie is still in the works and has no release date yet, but being a fan of the 1986 movie, I can’t wait to see how this version will turn out. What do you think of Josh Gad and Rebel Wilson possibly starring in the Little Shop of Horrors remake?
