Long-forgotten 1980 doc takes us inside Empire Strikes Back

It's hard to believe that a documentary made during filming for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back has been mostly lost and languishing for decades, but it's true—and here's 15 minutes of footage to prove it.

Apparently, filmmaker Michel Parbot was given full access to the set and generated a ton of interviews and footage. The weird part? The brunt of his work has never really surfaced, and the finished product never received a proper commercial release.

Yes, Parbot eventually worked on a separate special dubbed SPFX: The Empire Strikes Back, but his original untitled project never hit the shelves.

That is, until now. Open Culture has apparently found two clips (in admittedly awful quality) that aired on Dutch TV, showing off never-seen interviews with tons of folks involved with the film. It's not the entire documentary, but it's a start.
