According to Latino Review, a site that seems to specialize in Marvel Studios rumors with varying degrees of truth, the studio is hoping to bring in Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler (or possibly just one or the other) to fill a role or two in the superhero flick. It's hard to tell at this point whether the two would be competing for one role or whether they'd each take a part, but either way their names have just been officially added to the Internet movie rumor maelstrom.

So who would they possibly be playing? The most obvious choices, at least when we're talking about members of the Guardians, are Rocket Raccoon and Groot, but there are always supporting funny roles and even villains to consider, none of which have even been named yet. And hey, it's still worth considering the possibility that they won't necessarily be playing comedic or comedically tinged roles. They've both gone serious before, with varying degrees of success. Of course, it's also possible this rumor will be killed by another rumor tomorrow, but such is the way of the Web.

It'll also be interesting to note how Guardians fans react to these rumors. Carrey has a little bit of genre street-cred thanks to his upcoming role in Kick-Ass 2, but Sandler is known best these days for a string of Razzie-winning critical failures that still manage to bring in the cash (sometimes). What do you think? Would either of these guys be a good fit for Guardians of the Galaxy, and if so who would you like to see them play?
