Look which Marvel superhero just got elected president!

There are lots of problems facing America today, and no one can agree on which party can best fix them. Maybe it's time to throw out the old system and unify us by writing in a true American hero. All right—that would never happen in the real world. In the Marvel Universe on the other hand ...

There's a new sheriff in the town as of Ultimate Comics Ultimates #15 , and that man's name is Steve F#@$ing Rogers! That's right. The next president of the United States of America is none other than Captain America himself.

Mind you, the Ultimates universe suffers very extreme versions of the conflicts facing our world—Washington D.C. has been decimated, a virtual dictator runs Detroit (of all places), and most of what remains is a literal "West Coast Nation" full of refugees just trying to figure out what comes next. Says Marvel EOC, Axel Alonso, "This is a United States that's being torn asunder by special interest groups—by opportunists looking to divide and conquer. This is a metaphor for what goes on in real life, but on steroids."

But what kind of president will Captain America be? As a write-in candidate, he's not the typical leader. Says writer Sam Humphries, "He is Abraham Lincoln if Lincoln had had access to a jet plane and a devastating right hook." Perhaps more importantly, is how Cap will enact policy: "Captain America is not going to behave like any other president behaves. He takes the oath of office and barely takes a breath as he goes to hot spots. ... Cap is out there because he's so concerned about the state of the Union that he doesn't have time to think about the State of the Union."

So, in short, Captain America as president is a hands-on kind of dude, trying to unite a country that's barely holding it together. Sounds nice, doesn't it?
