Despite the fact that director Ridley Scott had ruled out the return of Noomi Rapace in her Prometheus role of Elizabeth Shaw (much to everyone’s surprise, I might add, as it was expected she would return), it now seems the actress will be back for Alien: Covenant.
When the sci-fi thriller was originally announced, it was confirmed that both Prometheus survivors Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace would be returning for the Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel as they set a course for the world of the Engineer. Until we were told Elizabeth Shaw had been written out of the movie and only Fassbender’s android, David, would be back.
Now it seems like Ridley Scott has changed his mind and sources have told Deadline the actress was currently on the Covenant set in Australia to “shoot weeks' worth” (although I wonder if they actually meant to say a week’s worth) of scenes. The info is apparently being kept under wraps, so we may have to wait until the film comes out before we find out the extent of her role. Here's a synopsis for the upcoming movie:
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Rapace will be joining a cast that includes Katherine Waterston (whose character is rumored to be the mother of Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley), Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez and Alex England.
Are you excited to see Noomi Rapace return for Alien: Covenant on Aug. 4, 2017?
