Following the confirmation that new Spider-Man actor Tom Holland had already wrapped filming his first-ever scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as Peter Parker) in Captain America: Civil War, now comes word that the webslinger will have more than a cameo appearance in Marvel’s superhero-filled movie.
Devin Faraci over at Birth.Movies.Death. reveals that the wall-crawler will get to play a bigger role in the movie that’ll see Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) on opposite sides of the Superhuman Registration Act. Faraci claims that Spider-Man has been on set much longer than Tom Holland has, because the movie doesn’t need the actor, himself, to play the masked character.
Slap on Spidey's mask on some anonymous stuntmen, add a dash of awesome CGI and special effects, and voila! Meaning even if Peter Parker only has a cameo in Civil War, it doesn't have to be the case for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Here’s the quote that caught my attention:
How many scenes will Spider-Man be in? I don't know the exact number, but sources have recently made it clear to me that there's more Spider-Man in this movie than I expected. Spider-Man doesn't just swing by and say hi - gets his hands dirty in this Civil War. He fights. And his fight scene might be the one that really gets fandom excited - not because of how top tier the face-off will be, but because of how profoundly dorky and unlike any other big screen superhero fight it will be.
I don’t know about you, but I’m rather intrigued by this bit of info. I'm particularly liking the whole "profoundly dorky and unlike any other big-screen superhero fight" comment above. Who will Spidey fight? As long as it turns out to be as exciting as that cool Ant-Man/Falcon fight scene we got in Ant-Man, I'm all for it! How about you?
