The new Syfy time-travel action series Rewind is ramping up production on its pilot, and the buzzy project has now added two splashy sci-fi vets to the cast.

Lost alum Jeff Fahey, who played the pilot Frank Lapidus on the hit ABC series, has officially joined the Syfy project about a secret team of time travelers attempting to prevent a catastrophic event. Fahey has also had co-starring roles in everything from Planet Terror to Chuck.

In an even more interesting twist, famed filmmaker David Cronenberg (The Fly, The Dead Zone) will take a shot at acting, at least in a guest-starring role, in the pilot. Though he is best known as a director, Cronenberg has recently shown up on screen via small roles in Alias and the short-lived ABC mystery Happy Town.

For more info on the series, check out Syfy's official synopsis:

Rewind revolves around a team of military field operatives and civilian scientists who must use untested technology to travel back in time to alter events and change the future--and avoid a devastating terrorist attack. Shane McRae stars as Sean Knox, ex-Special Forces who ranks as a field operative in a special division of the Department of Homeland Security. The pilot also stars Jennifer Ferrin, Academy Award nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider), Robbie Jones and Keon Mohajeri, and is currently in production in Toronto. Jack Bender (Lost, Alphas) is directing the pilot, written by Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li), who will also executive produce with Tom Spezialy, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein.
