After Mark Ruffalo absolutely killed it as Bruce Banner in The Avengers, fans have been wondering when Marvel will give the big, green guy another shot with his own solo movie. Well, the original Hulk, Lou Ferrigno, claims to have the answer.
Talking to a local radio station in Minnesota, Ferrigno claimed Marvel is gearing up to do a Hulk movie in Phase 3, following Avengers: Age of Ultron. Of course, Ferrigno has a few connections at Marvel, since he voiced the Hulked-out version of the character in Avengers (and will in Age of Ultron).
Here’s the choice excerpt:
“Now because he saved the day they're making another solo Hulk movie after the second Avengers comes out.”
It’s not like The Hulk hasn’t already gotten a few shots at big-screen stardom, with Ang Lee’s 2003 dud Hulk and the so-so 2008 film The Incredible Hulk, which is technically within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (despite the recasting from Edward Norton to Mark Ruffalo). Neither one of those movies hit the mark dead on, but that could change with Ruffalo.
So is it true? Hard to tell. Marvel has said they have no immediate plans to try another Hulk flick, but if Ruffalo continues to rock in Age of Ultron, it makes sense they’d capitalize on the momentum at some point. What story would you like to see them tackle?
