Lou Ferrigno explains why he thinks he's still the ultimate Hulk

Lou Ferrigno has a very simple reason why he thinks his Hulk performance can never be "duplicated."

Playing Marvel's gamma-bombed green monster made Ferrigno a star, and for some fans he's still the best incarnation of the Hulk ever committed to film. More than 30 years after The Incredible Hulk went off the air, Ferrigno still sets himself apart from the three big-screen incarnations of the character we've seen in the last decade. For him, his Hulk all comes down to something the other Hulks didn't have: huge muscles that were actually real.

“It began with me as the Hulk,” Ferrigno said. “I was the first to bring superhero muscles to the screen and to make it more believable. There’s still people who prefer to watch the old show over the newer things because it’s real, not CGI.”

Though the modern incarnation of the Hulk takes on a supernaturally gigantic appearance when his CGI form appears, which makes him look a bit more comic-book-ish, Ferrigno still feels that his real-life ripped form added a layer of realism that hasn't been matched since. In Ferrigno's eyes, though other Hulk incarnations might be good, none of them will ever be able to do what he did, and it's not just because of the muscles.

“The truth is, I’ve been the Hulk my whole life,” he said. “The Hulk was the beginning of me, a platform as an actor to grow. I don’t think anybody else can play the Hulk like I could. I was able to show emotions even with all of the makeup. I don’t think it can be duplicated.”

What do you think? Is Ferrigno still the reigning Hulk, or do you prefer a CGI version?
