We’ve been wondering what Marvel would do with the Hulk after his breakout role in The Avengers, but genre legend Lou Ferrigno has a few ideas about where it’s all going.
Ferrigno, who played the Hulk in the original 1970s series The Incredible Hulk, has already kicked in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with nifty little cameos in The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers (and reportedly Age of Ultron). Now he’s dropping some apparent intel about where the company might go next with the series.
According to Ferrigno, he thinks we’ll hear something official about a Hulk standalone movie sometime within the next year — followed by that long-gestating Hulk television series (which was previously being developed by Guillermo del Toro) after the next phase of movies.
Check out an excerpt of what Ferrigno told Film Fad below:
“Well to tell you the truth they plan to do a TV series someday and it will probably be CGI, I don’t think you’ll ever see a human Hulk again. Because with the technology people would rather see something that is a little more animated like CGI… That’s (TV series) a long way from now because I think down the road, I think in another year, they’re going to film a solo Hulk movie. But I think the series can happen if they finish doing the Avengers or the Hulk movie, that’s my guess for now.”
The grain of salt warning: Obviously, Marvel keeps all this stuff under wraps, but it stands to reason Ferrigno might have some tangential intel on the franchise thanks to his voice cameos. Plus, if Mark Ruffalo’s version of the Hulk steals the show again in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel would be crazy not to just give the dude a spinoff in the next phase.
What do you think? Will we be getting more Hulk in the future?
