He might fill his days with sci-fi blockbusters like The Fifth Element and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, but Luc Besson also occasionally carves out a bit of time for some smaller projects. How about a Kingman meets Nikita story?

Besson wrote a new web series titled Playground, which is described as a “high-voltage, Paris-set series about a teenage girl who joins a school for assassins and uncovers the mystery of her parents’ death.” Besson wrote it, but it’s directed by Pascal Sid (Behind the Walls) and veteran fight/stunt choreographer Olivier Schneider (Taken, Spectre). It’s understandably a bit on the low-budget side (it is a web series, after all), but with Benson framing it up, it definitely could be worth checking out.

The series will consist of 10 episodes, which all run about 8-12 minutes in length. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think, then head over to Vice to watch the entire first season.
