Five years after its cancellation in the wake of Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming back.

The surprise announcement came at the end of the beloved series' 10th anniversary panel Thursday during San Diego Comic-Con, when director Dave Filoni unveiled a new clip teasing the series' return to Disney's still-unnamed direct-to-consumer streaming service.

The clip begins with the words: "A war left unfinished…until now”

We then cut to Anakin and Obi-Wan walking into a room, as Anakin asks Captain Rex why they were asked to return. Suddenly, we see the hologram of Ahsoka, who turns around and addresses Skywalker

“Hello, Master, it’s been a while,” she says.

The Comic-Con crowd, who just thought they'd be there for a reunion of sorts, went absolutely nuts, so much so that the clip was played a second time just so everyone could hear everything. Now, you can watch it too thanks to the official Star Wars Twitter page.

The Clone Wars ran for five critically acclaimed seasons at Cartoon Network from 2008 to 2013, creating a complex web of storytelling woven between the prequel films that's since carried on in everything from Star Wars Rebels to Solo: A Star Wars Story. In March 2013, Disney cancelled the series, and the remaining Season 6 episodes were shuffled over to Netflix in the spring of 2014. Disney's pursuit of Star Wars animation has, of course, continued in the form of Rebels and the upcoming Resistance series, but Clone Wars will always have a special place in the hearts of fans.

Now, it's coming back. The revived series does not yet have a release date, but we do know that 12 episodes have been announced. For the moment, though, just relish the fact that the Clone Wars have indeed been saved.
