Besides rockin' a radical red arm in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there haven't been any major changes or alterations to the persnickety protocol droid known as C-3PO in decades. It seems like there aren't many enhancements or software updates in a galaxy far, far away, at least none that are immediately apparent.

In an interesting announcement, Lucasfilm has just enlightened fans via Twitter with a previously unknown piece of information regarding C-3PO's processing capabilities from Episode VII and going forward. In A New Hope, C-3PO proudly proclaims he is fluent in over 6 million forms of communication, and now it seems he's evolved with the recent addition of another million languages to push him over the 7 million mark.

While this information may seem trivial upon initial reflection, adding a million more different styles of interaction between machines, robots, spaceships, monsters, trash compactors, villains and aliens could just be the pivotal component in completing a life-or-death mission to defeat Supreme Leader Snoke's nefarious First Order.

What do you think of Threepio's linguistics upgrade, and do you think it might play into the plot of The Last Jedi?
