The Star Wars universe is a whole lot bigger than just the films, and now Disney is using its official tie-in novels to introduce some major leaders on both sides of the galactic conflict.

The third installment in Chuck Wendig's Aftermath novel, Empire’s End, is set in the time after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens, focusing on Rebel leader Norra Wexley (who leads a small team not unlike the Star Wars Rebels team) and Imperial leader Grand Admiral Rae Sloane. If the name Wexley sounds familiar, it's because she's the mother of Snap Wexley (aka Greg Grunberg's Rebel leader in The Force Awakens).

Wexley's team goes after Sloane after they believe she led an attack on the New Republic. The Force Awakens made it clear that the remnants of the Empire never really went away, and this trilogy has served as a window into how the galaxy changed in the years since the end of the original trilogy — with these two women serving as the key players in that tale.

If the new characters aren't enough of a draw, the trilogy also checks back in with some key players from the original saga ... and you'll just have to read the books to find out which ones!

Empire’s End is set to be released on February 21.
