By now, nearly everyone who's seen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story knows that the film is packed with callbacks, easter eggs and links to the rest of the vast Star Wars galaxy. From droids in the background to ships in the fleet to a voice on an intercom, careful watching and listening keeps rewarding Star Wars fans.
In fact, some secrets are buried so deep in the film that you might have to be a professional Star Wars expert to find them all. On the latest episode of The Star Wars Show, a trio of actual professional experts -- Leland Chee, Pablo Hidalgo and Matt Martin, all of the fabled Lucasfilm Story Group -- come together to do just that, and it's fascinating.
In the 25-miute episode, Chee, Hidalgo and Martin discuss everything from the numerous Star Wars Rebels references in the film to why the planet Mustafar (site of Darth Vader's rad Lava Castle) is never named on screen to why Princess Leia Organa was at the Battle of Scarif at all. Turns out the answer is pretty simple: She was on her way to Tatooine to find Obi-Wan Kenobi when the fleet was called to fight.
“The plan was always that Leia was going to go to Tatooine to pick up Obi-Wan and Raddus was going to escort her,” Hidalgo said. "Then the news of Scarif came in, and that was deemed more important ... [because] it's the one warship that they have at this point."
