What do you do when you have a TV show about a family of superheroes and you need someone to play a "powerful woman" who will be a "potential adversary" for them? Well, you cast Lucy "Xena" Lawless, of course!
The casting news comes our way from Michael Ausiello of TV Line, who wrote:
Sources confirm to me exclusively that ABC's freshman sci-fi comedy has tapped the fierce and fraktabulous Lucy Lawless to join the cast for at least five episodes.
According a Family friend, Lawless will play a powerful woman and potential adversary for the Powell clan whose agenda could put the family in danger.
Lawless' arc will carry the show (which airs Tuesdays at 8 pm) through the end of the season, and hopefully create enough momentum to earn the underrated Family a renewal.
Most of you will know the actress from her leather-clad, ass-kicking days as Xena: Warrior Princess (1995-2001) or as the (somewhat tragic) Cylon D'Anna Biers from Battlestar Galactica.
But most recently, the actress has been showing off way more than her acting chops on Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (the splendid, bloody prequel to the no-less-splendid-and-bloody Spartacus: Blood and Sand) as the gloriously devious Lucretia, wife of Batiatus (John Hannah), the owner of the gladiator school.
After Lawless concludes her stint on No Ordinary Family, she will return to New Zealand to start filming on the second season of Spartacus.
So—are you happy with this casting news? Do you think the addition of Lucy Lawless on No Ordinary Family will help the struggling series?
But most importantly—will she get to wear leather?
