This year’s Star Wars Day has come and gone, but it left behind seven new episodes of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny Season 2. And while fans of Star Wars Rebels should be very happy to see most of its leading characters return in new shorts, the main event is a reunion between Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor.
Mark Hamill reprises his role as Luke alongside Shelby Young as Leia in “Traps and Tribulations.” Within this short, the Skywalker siblings discover why the Ewoks had so many traps hidden in the forest as they cross paths with a dangerous creature.
Note that Luke has to ask Leia to return his lightsaber, as she seems to enjoy having one of her own. But that’s a part of Leia’s legacy that has been left behind in the discarded Expanded Universe.
Characters from Star Wars Rebels appear in three of the new shorts. “Chopper and Friends” also takes place after the Battle of Endor, as Hera and Chopper are forced to recruit some help from the Ewoks when a few vengeful Imperial Tie fighters attack.
“Art History” puts the focus on Sabine Wren and her brother, Tristan, as they attempt to take out an Imperial outpost without destroying a statue that holds an important place in the history of Mandalore. But one of our favorite episodes is “A Disarming Lesson,” which finds Ahsoka giving Ezra an unexpected challenge.
Padme stars in the prequel era short, “Monster Misunderstanding,” while the new trilogy era is represented in “Porgs!” and “Perilous Pursuit,” a short that brings John Boyega and Daisy Ridley back together for a lost scene set during Finn and Rey’s escape from Starkiller Base in The Force Awakens.
