Luke Cage officially coming back for Season 2 on Netflix

Sweet Christmas, we have some good news.

The new Marvel series Luke Cage was a major critical hit for Netflix, and surprise, it’s officially coming back for another season. The announcement was made via a brief video tease posted online, featuring Pop’s Barbershop. Turns out, the shop has a new, neon sign in the window: “SEASON 2 COMING SOON.” Now that’s some fiddle-faddle we can all get behind.

Though the confirmation will obviously whip fans into a frenzy, we still don’t know much of anything about Season 2. Or, more importantly, when it will actually arrives. Marvel and Netflix are already hard at work on a boatload of other projects, with Iron Fist, The Defenders and new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones already in the pipeline. That’s a whole lot of television, and the studio has always been keen to space out releases, so it could be at least a year or so until we see Luke hit the streets of Harlem once again.

One cool thing to remember, though: Luke Cage’s next season will almost certainly not arrive until after Iron Fist and The Defenders (where Luke and Danny Rand should meet for the first time), so it stands to reason that Season 2 of Luke Cage could potentially introduce the Heroes For Hire to the small screen.

Check out the (all too brief) announcement below and let us know what you think:
