After a teaser announced the date, new photos arrived, and the Power Man himself even hit up the NFL Combine, Netflix and Marvel's Luke Cage has finally dropped a thrilling full trailer for Season 2 to get us pumped for new episodes.
In the second season of the Harlem hero's very own series, Luke (Mike Colter) has cleared his name after spending much of Season 1 as a fugitive, but he's not just a free man. He's also a local celebrity, making viral videos to showcase his superhero skills and walking the streets as a celebrated icon. That all changes when new threats arrive in Harlem, particularly a new (still unnamed) villain who seems able to effortlessly hurt Luke. Luke, as fans know, has been hurt before, but it's never felt this easy, and to say he's unsettled by it would be an understatement.
So, to keep his city safe, Luke has to do more than fight back. He has to dig deep and find a level of brutality he was previously keeping in check. It might be effective at winning in the end, but as those around him watch his descent into a dark place, they wonder if it will be worth it in the end. Will this monster be the thing that finally breaks Luke Cage?
As expected, the trailer features plenty of awesome action, including one of the coolest Luke Cage entrance shots we've ever seen, along with the laid-back sense of humor that gave the show its cool edge from the beginning (the guy who comments that he at least has to try to shoot Luke before getting beat to hell is classic).
We also see the returns of Mariah (Alfre Woodard), Shades (Theo Rossi), Claire (Rosario Dawson), and, of course, Misty Knight (Simone Missick), who's making plans to get her classic comic book arm. The closing moments, teasing the foundation of the Heroes for Hire, are bound to get comic book fans hyped for this show's return.
Luke Cage returns with summer, on June 22. Check out a new poster to go with the trailer below.
