Sweet Christmas! Luke Cage star Mike Colter may be set to battle aliens in Extinction.

According to Variety, Mike Colter has joined fellow MCU alum Michael Pena (who brought in the laughs in Ant-Man) and Cloverfield’s Lizzie Caplan in the alien invasion movie from director Ben Young. The script will be penned by Eric Heisserer (who received an Oscar nod for his Arrival script) with Spenser Cohen (Moonfall) and Bradley Caleb Kane (Fringe, Black Sails).

The sci-fi thriller follow a man (Pena) trying to save his family from an alien invasion. Sure, that’s not much to go on, but since the movie is from Heisserer and co., I’m confident the script will be solid. And what’s not to love about alien invasion movies?

Colter’s role in the film is currently being under wraps, so it’s unclear whether his character in Extinction will be of the human or alien variety, but it would definitely be great to see the actor tackle an out-of-this-world role (not saying that's what he's playing). Before we get to see the Marvel actor in Extinction, however, Colter will be reprising his role of Hero for Hire Luke Cage for Marvel’s The Defenders on August 18 on Netflix.

Extinction is slated to open on Jan. 26, 2018.
