Witness an assembly of uppity undead in this blood-splattered new TV spot for the upcoming Hollywood adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It took a while for the novelist's 2009 historical horror mashup to shuffle onto the silver screen, but now that its debut is imminent, it looks like it might be a diverting romp for the annual post-holiday downtime. This latest teaser, entitled "Written In Blood," is a deluge of arterial spray and deadly headshots as the London body count piles up after the Black Plague returns.
Here's the official synopsis from Sony Pictures.:
A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in this reimagining of Jane Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet (James) is a master of martial arts and weaponry, and the handsome Mr. Darcy (Riley) is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield in order to conquer the undead once and for all.
If you like your walkers wearing frilly gowns and stovepipe hats, this flick is definitely your terrifying cup 'o tea.
Directed by Burr Steers (17 Again, Igby Goes Down), Pride + Prejudice + Zombies opens Feb. 5, 2016, and stars Lily James, Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Matt Smith, Douglas Booth, Charles Dance, Lena Heady, Ellie Bamber, Millie Brady, Bella Heathcote and Suki Waterhouse.
