Patrick Ness' young adult post-apocalyptic novel series Chaos Walking is coming to a theater near you, and the adaptation has found its villain: Mads Mikkelsen. He'll be going up against Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland in the film, if negotiations underway go as planned. As the Mayor of Prentisstown, his character is the former mentor of Holland's character, who discovers a lone girl in a world where almost all the women have been killed.
Chaos Walking is being directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, Jumper) and has assembled quite the genre all-star cast. Mikkelsen is riding high off of 2016, where he played Doctor Strange villain Kaecilius and Rogue One's Death Star weapons designer Galen Erso -- those two films grossed a combined $1.7 billion worldwide, so you could say he had a good year.
Fellow Star Wars alum Daisy Ridley jumps into another genre role here as the girl who could save this world from itself, and Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is the boy who wants to help.
Chaos Walking begins principal photography next month in Montreal and is scheduled for a March 1, 2019, release.
