Magician David Copperfield says Harry Potter 'ripped me off'

David Copperfield says you probably know him from "magic," but if you skew on the younger side, you probably don't know him at all. He was a popular illusionist in the '80s and '90s who could make trains and the Statue of Liberty disappear with nothing more than dramatic hand gestures and comically overactive eyebrows.

Now he's got a beef with Harry Potter.

Who knew the two had so many striking similarities? This may not be the first time J.K. Rowling has been accused of plagiarism, but it's obviously the most legitimate—and the most hilarious.

We're not sure what's funnier, the picture of young Copperfield wearing round glasses or that quip about Alan Rickman ... but we're really, really grateful David didn't show us where his lightning-bolt scar is.

The question is, does this self-effacing video rekindle your interest in the legend that is Copperfield? Maybe, for his next trick, he should make the whole Internet disappear! One thing's for sure, the hashtag #SuckItPotter is probably the funniest thing you'll see on Twitter today.
