After helping reboot the X-Men with First Class over at Fox, Warner Bros. is reportedly courting Matthew Vaughn to get Man of Steel back on track.
Collider reports Warner Bros. is courting Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Kingsman: Secret Service) to tackle the long-gestating Man of Steel 2. At this point, some "preliminary conversations" have taken place about getting Vaughn in the DCEU, but it's still early. Even if he doesn’t tackle Man of Steel 2, the studio is apparently keen to get Vaughn involved, and he could resurface on a different film down the line.
Warner Bros. has a boatload of DC movies in various stages of development, and this isn't the first we've heard about a Man of Steel sequel — though it's important to note the project is still just in the development phase, alongside everything from Gotham City Sirens to that Deadshot spin-off with Will Smith. So, don't get your hopes up just yet to see more of solo Superman. If anything, a lot will hinge on the success of Wonder Woman and Justice League.
If DC really does take another shot at Superman, getting someone like Vaughn at the helm could at least bring some fresh energy to the character. Man of Steel wasn't great, while the version of Supes we saw in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was the definition of dull. Vaughn doesn't do dull, so if nothing else, it'd be interesting to see his version of Clark Kent.
What do you think? Would you like to see Vaughn tackle a Man of Steel sequel?
