The ever-mutating horror franchise Resident Evil is ramping up for a pop culture resurgence this year, and the momentum will carry it well into 2017, with the live-action Resident Evil: The Final Chapter starring Milla Jovovich and the new Resident Evil 7: Biohazard game emerging in January, and now a springtime treat for Japan with a fresh Resident Evil animated feature film.
Check out the evocative first trailer for Resident Evil: Vendetta (AKA Biohazard), paired with a soaring opera score as the bio-terrorism team infiltrates an insane estate to discover it infested with undead creatures with a meal on their decaying minds. Written by Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass) and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (ltraman X), it's set after the gaming events of 2012's Resident Evil 6 but before the upcoming Resident Evil 7 and is populated by the recurring characters Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers.
