No matter how the actual movie turns out, it seems Amazing Spider-Man 2 could have the most badass rock soundtrack. Ever.

With the scoring phase coming up soon, director Marc Webb and composer Hans Zimmer have teamed up with a who’s who of music gurus to create one of the first soundtracks to have us excited in decades.

The lineup includes Johnny Marr (the Smiths), Pharrell Williams, Michael Einziger (Incubus) and Dave Stewart — plus Webb and Zimmer. Apparently Webb and Zimmer put the word out they were looking for some musicians for the soundtrack, and it turned out all these virtuosos were also huge Spidey fans. Who knew?

So they’ve formed a band (supergroup?), and they’ve been jamming the past week or so to come up with the soundtrack for next year’s Amazing Spider-Man sequel. Seriously, Marc Webb? Not only do you get to direct the next Spider-Man, but you also get to jam with Johnny Marr and company? Not fair, dude. Not fair.

Here’s how Zimmer explained the formation of the band:

"Marc and I were talking about Spider-Man, and as the word got out, so many of our friends and musicians started calling us up, wanting to be a part of it, because they love Spider-Man. With all of these hugely talented people wanting to join us, it was Marc who said, 'Why not start a band?' Marc and I have had a great start jamming with everybody, and we still have a few surprises up our sleeve."

As if we weren’t already excited for Amazing Spider-Man 2, we’re definitely psyched now. Do you like the options here to draft a good soundtrack?
