Marion Cotillard might get her naughty witch on for Arthur & Lancelot

We last saw the Oscar winner in Christopher Nolan's sci-fi heist picture Inception, this year she took on Steven Soderbergh's pandemic thriller Contagion, and next year she'll show up in The Dark Knight Rises. Now Cotillard seems set to add another genre credit to her list with a role as Arthur's magical half-sister Morgana.

Cotillard is pretty popular at Warner Bros. these days (all those films mentioned up top are their releases), and it makes sense that they'd try to tap into the whole dark-eyed exotic thing she's got going on for the traditionally dark and even malevolent role of Morgana (or Morgan le Faye, depending on which version you like). Of course, this particular take on Arthurian lore is set to begin with Arthur as little more than an illegitimate kid being raised by a poor knight, so there's no telling where Morgana will fit into that just yet.

Cotillard joins Games of Thrones' Kit Harrington—who's signed on to play Arthur—in the flick, which is taking shape for a possible 2013 release. Warner Bros. is hoping to do with this one the same kind of thing they did with Sherlock Holmes: make it a little lighter, give it lots of action and pack it with sexy stars. With Harrington and Cotillard on board already, they seem to be well on their way.

Too soon to tell if she's gonna rock it like Helen Mirren. But we can only hope.
