Mark Hamill confirms that he's not, in fact, too short to be a Stormtrooper

Mark Hamill makes no secret of his love for Star Wars fandom. Anytime he speaks at a convention or event, he praises the fans for keeping the story alive, and he regularly participates in inside jokes and debates about the franchise on social media.

On Thursday, Hamill took to his Twitter account (he has nearly two million followers) to again have some fun with the story that made him a star. One of the series' longest-running jokes comes in A New Hope, when Luke enters Princess Leia's cell in full Stormtrooper armor. Luke, for a moment, forgets that he's in disguise. Leia, without missing a beat, simply asks: "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?"

It's one of the series' most oft-quoted lines, so there's no doubt fans have repeated it to Hamill many times. So, he decided to settle this old score once and for all, with a little help from some classic Star Wars action figures.

As you can see, the Luke figure actually comes out just a bit taller than its Stormtrooper counterpart. Of course, this is no way guarantees people will stop repeating the line to Hamill, but at least he can say he tried.

Hamill will return as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Dec. 15.
