In his first official photo since joining the cast of Knightfall, Mark Hamill looks more like he is channeling Dumbledore (in his later years) or Gandalf than Luke Skywalker.

While Hamill seems to be comfortably settling into roles as a grizzled, bearded mentor these days, he's opted for a much hairier look on Knightfall than he was rocking in either of his two recent Star Wars adventures, The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi. Take a look at the full costume in this photo, which also features series star Tom Cullen:

The long gray hair and beard may be right out of a wizard's guide to fashion, but the robes and armor seem a bit more unique to Hamill's role as Talus, who is described in press material for Knightfall as "a battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran of the Crusades, who survived captivity for 10 years in the Holy Land and is tasked with training the new initiates to the Order."

The order in question, in case you haven't guessed, is the Knights Templar, the mysterious religious-military organization that was assigned to protect Christianity's most hallowed relics during the Middle Ages. Knightfall aims to take a deep dive into the shadowy world of what was essentially a confederation of warrior monks. Cullen (Downton Abbey) stars as Templar leader Landry du Lauzon, who's consumed with finding the prized Holy Grail.

Season 2 of the History show is now shooting in Prague, and while a premiere date has yet to be nailed down, the channel promises that the upcoming season will "explore this dark time in history from the Templar perspective, embracing an authentically grittier, darker, and more brutal Medieval period than has ever been seen before."
