A space on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has recently opened up and this just might be the perfect spot for a currently starless Star Wars icon: the late Carrie Fisher.
This availability came about because people can’t stop smashing Donald Trump’s star. The activist vandal responsible for its latest destruction has moved the City of West Hollywood’s city council to his position: no more Trump star. Last night during a meeting (of which the vandal was in attendance, per Deadline), the council voted to approve a resolution seeking the star's removal — one that’s still more symbolic than authoritative since the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles City Council ultimately control the Walk’s celestial residents.
Mayor John Duran said, “Earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is an honor. When one belittles and attacks minorities, immigrants, Muslims, people with disabilities or women — the honor no longer exists.”
One Hollywood Walk of Famer who has some ideas about the developments — and a possible replacement — is Mark Hamill. He’s plenty pleased to see Trump’s star fade, but he’s also advocating for his legendary costar Fisher to replace Trump.

“How about replacing it with someone who really earned it?” asks Hamill. Fisher doesn’t have a spot on the Walk yet due to a five-year posthumous waiting period before an industry member can be nominated for a star.
But that doesn’t mean they can’t hold one for her, right? Fans have been fervently clamoring for a star for the late, beloved Fisher. After all, she more than proved her worthiness throughout her life and fan response after her death, when they erected a shrine on the Walk in her honor, only proves (along with plenty of Star Wars footage) that her legacy lives on.
