A new Millarworld project is on the way, but what is it?

Mark Millar is teasing a new project, and let's begin by placing proper emphasis on the word "tease." Okay, full disclosure, his tease is pretty darn vague. But hey, that doesn't mean it's not compelling!

The man behind his own comic imprint, "Millarworld," as well as a new partnership with Netflix for TV and movie adaptations, tweeted the following at 1:28 a.m. this morning:

Because the scope of Millarworld now includes comics, TV, and films, this mystery project could be any of the three -- but some Twitter fans are taking the hourglass clue as a marker pointing directly to an adaptation of Millar's 2015 Chrononauts series. That theory seems to add up, aside from the fact that the film rights to that property are owned by Universal, which has been attempting to adapt it since the comic came out. It's been slow going, but development is reportedly still underway.

Assuming for the moment that this is not a Netflix-based adaptation of Chrononauts, what exactly is it? After Netflix acquired all of the remaining rights to Millar's work in August, they began work on a project based on his comic The Magic Order. Since that's already coming, we can count that out as well.

If Millar is adapting more of his previous work, the whole of Empress, American Jesus, and Huck remain untouched. Films or television events could work for any of them, and Netflix would be an ideal place to do it -- seeing as it's already rich in comic-based fare. Do any of these properties fit with the hourglass tease, however?

One conclusion that could be made is that it's an entirely new comic that he is working on. Though he uses the word "script," a comic in progress could certainly be described that way. Could more Chrononauts comics be coming?

If Mark Millar wanted to rev the imaginations of fans, then it's safe to say that he has succeeded. What project do you think Millar is alluding to here? What would you like it to be? Let us know in the comments!
